| The Center
for Addiction Management was founded in 2003 as an
organization dedicated to helping all those who struggle
with addiction find solutions that work over the lifespan.
Although those struggling with addiction are the primary
audience for this site, it is also designed to be used by
professionals, those impacted by someone with an addiction,
public policy makers, and the general public. Although
writing for so many audiences can be challenging, in the
end, everyone interested in the topic of addiction can benefit
from information that is concise, accurate, and easy to
understand - the ultimate objective of this site.
The center is based in
Portland, Oregon, and managed by
John Fitzgerald, PhD, LPC, CAS.
Dr. Fitzgerald has worked as a clinician, researcher,
trainer, and consultant in the field of addiction for over a
decade, and brings to this site his unique background of
experiences and education. He believes addiction is a
multifaceted problem with many dimensions - thus
necessitating the perspectives and views of many
people. Perhaps the most significant strength of this site
is that most topics are linked directly with folks who have
dedicated their careers to important aspects of this
problem and ways to deal with it.
Please note
this site purposely does not accept any
commercial advertising, or make suggestions about specific
treatment programs.
